Dave Leduc Heads to Cambodia for November 5 Match

PHNOM PENH: Canadian boxer Dave Leduc is traveling from Myanmar to Cambodia to compete with Khmer boxer Prom Samnang on November 5.

Dave Leduc posted a picture to his Facebook with a caption in Khmer and Burmese that reads, “Getting on a plane to Phnom Penh. Are you ready for the arrival of the sword?"

Although he is a Canadian known as a Burmese Lethwei champion, he said he would fight in the Kun Khmer style out of respect for the host country.

"Even though I am a foreigner, I love and respect Cambodia, which is why I agreed to compete under traditional Khmer martial arts because I know the true history," he wrote on social media back in August.

The boxer is also expected to meet with Prime Minister Hun Manet during his visit, after the PM thanked him for “loving Cambodia” the week before he assumed his new role as the country’s leader.
